The Objects of Rotary

To encourage and foster the ideal of Service as basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1.  The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

2.  High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupation; and the dignifying by each Rotarian of his or her occupation as an opportunity to service socity.

3.  The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

4.  The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world of fellowship of business and professional men and women united in the ideal of service.

History of Our Club

A short history of the Club;  the club first met at the Woodside Hotel on 5th December 1928.  It owed its origin to the enthusiasm of a few members of the Rotary Club in Liverpool who resided here in Birkenhead and who, with commendable vision decided that the principles of Rotary would find ready acceptance in the town.

The club was granted its Charter on 13th February 1929.

Birkenhead Rotary presently has almost 60 members, with newer members commenting that the increasing membership is partly due to the warm and welcoming atmosphere at meetings and events.  Fellowship, fun and a certain amount of fundraising is the norm, with members free to become involved as time and commitments allow.  There is always a helping hand from members should the need arise.

The club has changed quite a lot since 1929!
